Spend those Reputation Hearts on a Pony

When you have a lot of neighbors on CastleVille (and you really should have a lot to get the most out of the game), you tend to hit the maximum of 100 Reputation Hearts very often. A lot of times, you’ll browse the Market looking for things to spend them on. Well, one great item that a lot of people don’t know about is the Amethyst Pony. This item was added to the Fairy Items special collection recently and now you can purchase this pony for exactly 100 Reputation Hearts. The Fairy Collection will disappear soon, so head over to the Market ASAP to get that pony!

CastleVille Crowns

CastleVille CrownsCrowns in CastleVille are a valuable premium currency that you can use to purchase exclusive items, energy potions, and special buildings in the game. You can also use Crowns to unlock items sooner than you would normally through leveling. Unfortunately, Crowns are also the paid currency in the game, which means you have to spend real money to get them. There are no CastleVille Crowns cheats or hacks in the game. There are really only three ways to get them.

  1. You do earn a small number of Crowns (1, in fact) each time you level up. Because leveling is a slow process, you aren’t going to get a lot of Crowns this way, but you will get at least enough to buy a few items.
  2. You can earn Crowns by purchasing real world items or participating in surveys. This is a good idea if you would normally buy those things (such as a subscription to NetFlix) anyway, but it’s not cost-effective otherwise. This can be a nice way to earn Crowns during the holiday shopping season, when you would normally buy gifts for other people.
  3. You can buy Crowns by clicking on the Add Coins and Crowns button on the top menu bar. You’ll see a menu of packages that you can purchase. The larger of a package that you buy, the better a deal you’ll get on the Crown. Sometimes, Zynga runs special sales offering the Crowns at a discount.

Castle Level in CastleVille – How to Increase It

CastleVille Maiden's Tower

The Maiden's Tower is the first Royal Building available to you.

The Castle Level in Castleville is very important throughout the game as it gives you the ability to expand your area in Castleville. The castle level is located at the upper right part of the screen, and the best way to quickly do it is to build Royal buildings. Every time the royal buildings level up the castle level also goes up. As your building those royal buildings you will see that plenty of them are not yet unlock. These types of buildings earn huge amount of tax and may also provide the means to create other items. Here are some of the types of royal buildings that can be made in Castleville.

Types of Royal Buildings

BUILDING NAME CASTLE POINTS PAYOUT LEVEL NEEDED
MAIDEN’S TOWER 80 550 START
BARRACKS 110 750 6
VAULT 150 1050 9
THRONE ROOM 190 1650 12
LIBRARY 220 1800 15
CASTLE DUNGEON 260 2250 18
WIZARD’S KEEP 300 3000 21
OPERA HOUSE 340 3150 24
CATHEDRAL 390 3250 27
OBSERVATORY 450 2550 30
CastleVille Barracks

The Barracks is the second Royal Building you can construct in CastleVille.

The more royal buildings you place in your kingdom the more area you would have as you go on with the game. Inside the market there is a tab just for royal buildings which are directly associated with your castle in Castleville. Almost all royal building that are built needs to be associated with a crew you have two choice your best bet is to invite a friend to fill up your crew as most of them would be using it daily and would garner you more castle points from their daily accumulation rather than using the duke to fill up spots for the crew as it could only rack you points on a weekly basis and you would have to be spending those crowns for The duke to fill in a spot so it would be unwise to spend them on filling up the crews. Not only do the royal buildings determine your rank but it also coincides with how big your kingdom can be according to expansion. There are also some decorations that can be purchased for you to use in your kingdom and ultimately add to your castle points total so you can level up quicker. They are not as useful as the royal buildings are but they do give you a bit castle points and would definitely add style to your kingdom the same time as it earns you those castle points. Here are some of the decorations that can be acquired in Castleville.

Types of Decorations

Decoration Name Castle Points Cost Level Requirement
ARMORED PRACTICE DUMMY 3 15 Crowns START
SMALL BANNER 2 200 Coins START
WEAPON RACK 2 1 Crown 5
ARCHERY TARGET 2 4 Crowns 8
ROYAL THRONE 2 6 Crowns 10
PRACTICE DUMMY 3 7 Crowns 11
ARMOR RACK 3 10 Crowns 14
CANNON 4 1 Crown 16
TRELLIS 3 13 Crowns 17
SHARP GUILLOTINE 3 20 Crowns 24
CATAPULT 5 1 Crown 25

As you progress with the game keep on building royal building as soon as you have the land to put it on. And if you place royal buildings on castle grounds you will be able to earn massive tax as well. Always try to fill up the spots for the crew in a royal building with your friends as they will help a lot in earning you points and tax and for them as well. Try to join in on your friends’ crew as well as it will also give you points for doing the stuff needed in the royal building that they have built just like they do for you. And for leveling up a royal building it would also give you a prize most of the time that’s why it’s the most important structure for the game as the structure levels up so does your castle and the ability to expand in Castleville. The crew selection is as important as the royal building that has been built be sure that when you recruit friends for you crew that they will at least continue to help you with your tends so you would gain more castle points faster. As you progress more with the game and build more royal buildings and decorations you will soon see that castle leveling is a lot easier through focusing on building those royal buildings in Castleville.

Exploration in CastleVille

In CastleVille you start having a small space that is bright and all over the place is covered by dark fog or what is called – the Gloom. To free the kingdom from gloom and to bring happiness to all of its corners is your job. You’ll be able to expand your kingdom through exploration and slowly push back the forces of the Gloom as well as discover new surprises and characters along the way. Interacting with anything that is covered with Gloom is not allowed. First, you’ll need to explore each area. You can do this by clicking the icon that appears when your place your mouse over the gloom zone.It will reveal the resources you need to unlock and explore this particular spot.

CastleVille - Explore Areas in Gloom

Unexplored areas are covered in Gloom and appear darkened.

Usually, you’ll need to have a certain Castle Level, a particular amount of Exploration Crystals, and a number of coins. The Exploration Crystals and coins are spent when you explore the area. The amount need for each of these resources varies from the zone that you want to explore. For example, some zones only require a Castle Level of 20, but others require 2,100 or more. In addition, you can only explore areas that are adjacent to zones that are already part of your Kingdom. You may explore any areas that are nearby, but the common start path is to the characters such as Rapael and Alastair. One of the most important in the early stages of the game is to unlock new quest by reaching these characters.

Gloomed Area - Click to Explore

Click on the icon that appears when you mouse over to explore a zone.

Most exploration will require also Exploration Crystals. To get these, you’ll need to manufacture them in your Workshop. You assemble them from Crystal Shards, which you obtain from helping your neighbors. As mentioned, there is no fixed pattern path you need to follow in exploration you are free to explore areas anywhere around your kingdom. However, the early quest chains point you in the direction of discovering Raphael first, and then Alastair the Wizard shortly thereafter. Following those two, it most often makes sense to then strike out towards the Lost Countess lower left and the Mysterious Stranger in the upper right.

CastleVille Farming Cheats

Everyone in the kingdom has to eat, and so farming is an important aspect of the game. Of course, knowing what to farm to produce the best results is the key to success and these CastleVille Farming cheats and strategies will help you get the most from your crops in the game.

Farming Basics

Anyone who has played one of the earlier ‘Ville games, such as FarmVille, FrontierVille, or CityVille is probably already familiar with the concept of farming. You first build farm plots, which you place in your kingdom. Then you can plant seeds on the plots. Each seed type produces a different crop with its own particular harvest time and profit. The quickest growing crop in the game is Grapes, which take only 5 minutes to harvest. But grapes only yield 45 coins of profit, so they’re best used by players who will be playing the game frequently. On the other hand, wheat yields 450 coins of profit per plot, but it takes 24 full hours to harvest and is best used by players who can only log into the game once per day.

Just like in FrontierVille, there are pests that can appear when harvesting crops. Only these pests are downright nasty: the dreaded Gloom Rats. If one appears, it will lock out a portion of your kingdom until you fight and defeat it. Each Gloom Rat takes about 3 hits (and uses up 3 energy) to defeat. They’re definitely a nuisance.

Crops can also wither and die if you don’t harvest them soon after they’re ready. If you’re not going to return to the game soon, don’t plant crops with low harvest times, or you’ll end up with withered crops. Once withered, the crops can either be revived by a visiting friend, or cleared to make room for new ones. If cleared, it’s not a total loss: you’ll get some of your money back and XP for doing the clearing.

There’s a new twist on farming in CastleVille and it’s called irrigation. If you place your farm plot near a body of water, such as a pond or river, then it will be irrigated. This means crops planted there will grow 5% faster. It’s a small boost, but can be very useful when you’re planting long-harvest crops.

The Crops

Crops in CastleVille

Some of the crops you can purchase from the Market in CastleVille.

Cost of Crops

  • Grape, costs 5 coins
  • Flax, costs 25 coins
  • Carrot, costs 50 coins
  • Wheat, costs 100 coins
  • Tomato, costs 150 coins
  • Cabbage, costs 200 crowns
  • Cotton
  • Cocoa
  • Oat
  • Chili Pepper
  • Potato
  • Strawberry

Farming Strategies

CastleVille Tomato

As mentioned above, choosing what to farm depends on how often you play each day. Grapes have the highest profit per hour, but you need to harvest them every five minutes to realize their full potential. It will burn through most of your energy, and basically turns your CastleVille experience into a farming game–and if you wanted to limit yourself to that, you’re better off playing FarmVille. Wheat is dependable, but you have to wait 24 hours for the harvest, so the profit per hour is quite low. If you’re going to log in at least twice per day, consider planting Tomatoes. They harvest in 8 hours and yield 250 coins of profit per plot.

CastleVille Character Bios

One of the best parts of CastleVille will be all the citizens of the world that you meet. These CastleVille characters add a lot of dimension to the game and will be important for the overall storyline. In advance of the release of the game, Zynga has started posting some short bios of the main characters that you will meet and interact with in the game. So far, we’ve met two characters and learned a lot about them and their background. The pair we’ve learned about are Raphael and Sonja.

Raphael

Raphael is a woodsman and a bit of a Playboy who loves to spend time with the ladies. He was orphaned as a small boy when Beasties attacked his village, and now he spends time trying to save others from the Dark One and the Gloom. He’s also searching for the wizard Alastair, who saved him as a little boy when the village was attacked.

Sonja the Pirate

Sonja is described as a swashbuckling pirate with a love of drink and adventure. She’s always on the search for treasure, and she spent a good deal of her time on board her ship, known as the Santa Lucia. She lost her ship, and most of her treasure, when the Gloom arrived and the ship ran aground, sinking to the bottom of the sea. Her crew was lost and now she’s searching for them, hoping to find them alive and well.

She loves gold and other treasure, and enjoys a good duel. She has a distate for cowardice and bears a deep grudge against the Dark One for sinking her ship.

CastleVille Trailer Released

There’s a new CastleVille trailer posted on both the official Facebook page and on YouTube. It shows a little bit of the game in action and mostly shows off several of the characters that you’ll meet in the game, like Tom the Dragon Slayer, and George the Miner.

Here are a few things we learn about the game from the video trailer:

  • Tom is a dragon slayer and loves to eat cupcakes.
  • George the Miner is like a big teddy bear with more heart than brawn.
  • Raphael is a Don Juan playboy type.
  • Sonja is a gold-digging pirate in search of the finest booty.
  • Yvette is a lovely, yet lonely fair maiden.
  • A lot of the gameplay takes place inside your castle.
  • Many things from earlier Zynga games, like friends and gifting, are back in CastleVille.
  • There are some other characters we haven’t met yet and they look fairly dark and sinister. One looks like a dark wizard, another is a goblin beastie, and there’s a dark female character, too.

Happiness Meter is Here

Go to the official CastleVille page on Facebook and you’ll see that Zynga has added a new feature called the Happiness Meter. What they want is to get as many people to “Like” the game before it officially launches. In return, the more likes they get for the game, the more items they’ll unlock as soon as the game is released. And even better, if 5 million people like the game, they will give out a lot of money to charity. We all get to vote on the charity, too!

CastleVille Archery Target

The archery target is the first prize to get unlocked from the Happiness Meter on the CastleVille Facebook page.

Here are the items that get unlocked as part of the promotion along with how many “Likes” are needed to unlock each one. So far, only the archery target has been unlocked, but it’s a good start!
